The son of immigrants, Jack relied on scholarships and was able to appreciate their effect firsthand. Years later, after serving his country in the Navy and a successful Wall Street career, Jack was determined more than ever to help individuals lead a healthy and productive life. Providing his time and expertise as a member of the health system’s board of trustees and, along with Marge, supporting Holy Name philanthropically fits perfectly within the context of their personal values.

The couple makes their support available through various giving vehicles—smaller gifts via a donor-advised fund and larger gifts through IRA rollovers. At this stage of their lives, Jack and Marge appreciate the tax benefits and simplicity of IRA rollovers—especially as part of required minimum distributions, offering a low-effort, high-impact way to give.

“Ever meet anyone who won a BMW in a raffle?” asked Jack recently. He did, and drove it until its end. A self-described frugalist, he says, “We’d rather help others—support education and help people get healthy again—than spend the money on something flashy.”
