The legacy of Vivian Pacsy—an accountant, auditor, author, and educator—is defined not only by her professional accomplishments but also by her profound generosity and altruism. After receiving exceptional medical care from Yadyra Rivera, MD, Benjamin Rosenbluth, MD, and Stephanie Bino, RN, at Holy Name, Vivian knew she wanted to give back in a meaningful way.
A person who valued fiscal responsibility and long-term planning, Vivian made the decision to include Holy Name in her will through a bequest in the form of a charitable remainder unitrust (CRUT). The CRUT she established allowed her beloved, Mary Caryl Brown, to receive income during her life; upon Mary’s passing, Holy Name received a portion of the remainder to provide resources for oncology care, education, and training as well as end-of-life care.
Vivian believed in the transformative power of learning and of compassionate care—and her gift reflected those priorities. It provided support for oncology training in the new Graduate Medical Education Program, scholarships for Sister Claire Tynan School of Nursing students with a commitment to cancer care, and the Villa Marie Claire residential hospice.
Vivian’s investment in tomorrow’s healthcare professionals ensures that future generations will have the skills and resources needed to provide the highest quality care to patients facing cancer and those at the end of life. And her commitment serves as a reminder of the immeasurable impact individuals can have on the future of healthcare while creating a lasting legacy for her and her beloved parents, Joseph and Helen Pacsy, and grandparents, Joseph and Magdalene Pacsy.
