Kathleen A. O’Shea witnessed the excellent care her brother received at The Alfiero & Lucia Palestroni Foundation Multiple Sclerosis Center at Holy Name and believed strongly in the MS Center’s mission. So grateful for the care her brother received, she honored his memory with a bequest in her will that helps enable the Center to continue providing outstanding care far into the future.
A career musician and music educator, Dennis O’Shea’s MS was progressive when he arrived at the MS Center for treatment. Although visits to the Center were challenging, Dennis recognized and appreciated the time and level of care provided by Dr. Mary Ann Picone. His sister’s bequest will support the MS Center’s new Prescription for Wellness program and MS Center renovations.
Prescription for Wellness focuses on treating MS comorbidities while promoting overall wellness. It combines medical, neuropsychology, nutrition, fitness, and movement components to embrace the whole person and promote quality of life.
Kathy, who passed away in 2019, was known for her inquisitive mind and hearty laugh, a love of British history, and promoting and organizing her local library. Dennis was known for his musical talent and sharing his love of music through teaching.
“For many people, the decision to make a planned gift is hugely satisfying,” says Michael Maron, Holy Name President & CEO. “They have that sense of their legacy continuing, that their personal value and ability to make a difference endures. Kathy’s gift exemplifies that. It’s clear that she and Dennis were known and loved for many things. Now, thanks to her planned gift, they will also be known for helping those with MS live fuller, healthier, and more rewarding lives.”
